How to Change Your Minecraft Server Version

You can easily change your Minecraft server version directly from the AcademyHosting Minecraft Game Panel. This allows you to switch between different server types such as Paper, Spigot, Vanilla, Forge, and adjust the Java version if needed.

Follow the steps below carefully.


Before You Change Version (Important) #

Changing versions can:

  • Break plugins or mods
  • Trigger world upgrades
  • Cause compatibility issues

Always create a full backup before changing versions.


Changing Server Version #

Step 1: Log Into Your Minecraft Panel #

  1. Log into your Academy Hosting panel area.
  2. Select your Minecraft server.

Step 2: Stop the Server #

Before changing versions:

  1. Click Stop
  2. Wait until the server status shows Offline

Never change versions while the server is running.


Step 3: Open the “More” Menu #

Inside the Minecraft Game Panel:

  1. Look for the “More” button in the top menu.
  2. Click More
  3. Select Version

This will open the version management page.


Step 4: Select Your Server Type #

From the Version page, you can choose:

  • Paper (Recommended for performance)
  • Spigot
  • Vanilla
  • Forge (for modded servers)
  • Other available Jars

Select the Jar you want

Step 6: Save and Start #

After selecting your version:

  1. Click Save
  2. Return to the main panel
  3. Click Start

Monitor the console for errors during first startup.
